I found a very interesting long range rifle at a local gun shop. The rifle is a custom 6.5-06 built on a remington 700 action. overall the gun is in very good shape with only minor handling marks. The rifle has a 26" heavy varmint contour stainless barrel with only 6.5-06 for markings. Visually the rifling is crisp. The rifle is stocked with a forest camo McMillan HTG. They wouldn't let me take it out of the stock so I'm unsure of the trigger. There are no gunsmith markings and the shop has little history as to who built the gun. The price is in the $800 range. So now the questions.
1) How bad a barrel eater is the 6.5-06 and how likely is it that the rifle is shot out?
2) Is this a reasonable 1000 yrd gun?
3) Is it a good deal?
