Ok
Got a AP4 on the way that I plan on getting a barrel for in the future and wanted to get a decent scope for it now. Don't want to go much over $600.
FFP
mil/mil
.1 th mil adjustments
lowest magnification no greater of 4
highest magnification at least 10
parallax adjustment would be nice
so far this comes close http://www.vortexoptics.com/product/vort...reticle/reticle
(other than no parallax adjustment)
Also looking for a good mount that will work on this lopro upper receiver and goes forward enough for proper eye relief.
Just don't want to regret getting junk I'll to soon grow out of . I'll be using it for a while with this little barrel on it and will stretch it out a bit in the future so anyone got any advise on the subject?

I have that rifle with a SWFA 3-9 FFP. If I did it over again in that price range I would probably opt for a 1-4 PST or a simular lower mag range (same price range). It's easy to over scope a carbine.

Well I was planning on not getting a carbine in the first place, I wanted a rifle and ended up with a carbine. I'm re barreling it some time in the future (sooner than later). If I was leaving it a carbine I would probably just put an EOTECH and be done. With wanting to stretch it out anyway I was going to try and compromise with a scope that will work "okay" now and good enough later. LOL

that scope is not ffp. to get a quality ffp scope your going to have to come up on your price a little. teh vortex 4-16 would be my first recomendation but they are 900

Damn I didn't even notice. All the scopes i looked at are starting to bleed together. Seems I need to drop some features to stay in my budget. Is the ranging done on 10x on the SFP? If it is I could do without it because if I needed to be ranging targets I would be on 10x anyway. So with a scope 10x or under is there really even an advantage with a FFP?

If it were me, I would hop over to SWFA's sample list site and pick up the Super Sniper 1-4 with the donut reticle they have listed for $699.

1 to 4 is out of the question. 10x min or Id just get another EOTECH I'm trying to get started in the long range stuff. I want to learn how to run a scope. At least 10x max. Going to be shooting med to long range with it. When my barrel gets here anyway.

Re: Good glass for a 308 AP4 under $600 ?

I have had good luck with my Falcon 4-14.
Though I did upgrade, I still have the scope and it works well.

It meets all of your requirements. If you buy through SWFA, it has a 5 year warranty.

I had my falcon on savage 10PC in .308 and ran it through a one week course with about 350 rounds through it that week, I put well over 400 rounds down range on that light rifle with no issues.
I did clean up the heavy grease on the turrets and lube with silicone spray.

You have a couple of choices, buy a falcon, or the BSA version (unsure of quality there), save a little more and get the weaver 3-15 for just over 700 (MUCH better scope) or get a decent SFP scope in the 500-600 range.

This is always a best buy, though SFP and no parallax adjustment:

Re: Good glass for a 308 AP4 under $600 ?

I totally overlooked the magnification range you had noted in your message. I saw you had listed an AP4 and thought of more carbine type work than longer range application. It's probably going to be tough to find all of the features you have listed for less than $600 and it be a quality optic. Just something to keep in mind should you want to sell it later and get much of your money out of it.

Just my opinion, but you might make a sacrifice or two on the specs you have noted or add a little more to the budget if possible.

I have no experience with this one but Midwayusa has an exclusive Vortex 5-15 coming out at $499 but it is SFP rather than first. Outside of that, it seems to offer a good bit of what you are looking for.

This is your best option for LR shooting with your constraints. I have one and it is a great optic.
