Who is a good smith for working on Savage rifles?

Deer season is coming so a quick turnaround would be awesome if possible. Who has shorter wait times as well?

there are a few guys that say they are savage smiths, but i dont recall who all makes that claim. what do you need done? ive taken mine apart several times and reset the headspace. im bedding next. its pretty user friendly. try savage shooters forum too. savagegunsmithing.com. or sharpshootersupply.com or stockadegunstocks.com or lprgunsmith.com or there are a few guys on here that will chime in. but its so easy to do it yourself

I have a savage I have already beddded into a manners stock. I have a Lilja barrel blank #8 contour I need chambered and threaded then attached to the action.

if you buy a headspace gauge and wrench, you will just need the machine work done. there are several smiths here that could do it. they will chime in. SSS does good work, but fast isnt quite gonna happen

Send the barrel to Devin with Sin Arms. He does great work and quick turnaround.

He's done two 338 Edge barrels for me.

x2 on Devin/Sin Arms. He`ll do you right with a fairly quick turnaround time.

Keven rayhill at stockadegunstocks.com should be able to turn it around fairly quickly if you have all the parts in hand. Last time I sent him parts, he built my gun in about two weeks including truing and timing the action.

+1 on Kevin. Have been to his shop, and he's an extremely friendly guy with customer satisfaction his #1 priority. And he's damn good at what he does.


Fred Moreo is also a VERY talented smith, but he definitely acts like he knows it....and you should too. His customer relations are extremely lacking. But the work he does is good. If you can settle for months with no update and attitude when you ask, but work done very well (albeit slowly), go with Fred. Otherwise go with Sin or Stockade.

you are very close to underground skunkworks i would look their. mike is a good guy and easy to work with i also use benchmark barrels but they are alittle farther away, mark at short action custom is also good people.
