i just loaded 60 175 SMKs over 4064 to compare to varget. 41.5 to 43 grs in a 20" gas gun. does anyone load less than 41.5 grs pushing 175s?
I have not chrono'd all my Varget loads yet, but going up from 43.3 my SDs and ESs went up as well...

Winchester brass with BR2 primers.

Sierra manual, vers 4, indicates 42.2 gr 4064 as the accuracy load with the 175 gr bullet, est velocity 2550 fps.

From a bolt gun, I start at 42gr and work up in 0.3gr increments. A long tube bolt action usually ends up in the 43.5-44.5gr range.

I'd start at 41.5 in the gasser and load to Mag length.
