Rifle Scopes Got an AR-30 need suggestion for cheap scope.

Ok so I'm a hunter not a sniper, that being said all of my firearms are sighted in at 100 yds and I use Nikon scopes with a basic crosshair.
I recently bought an AR-30 and I know this gun is capable to well outshoot me, but I need a scope for it. I now live in CO where long shots are possible. The wife only agreed to let me spend the amount for the rifle. Now I need suggestions for how to get some (NOT TOO CRUMBY) optics on it for CHEAP. I've been searching on here and keep getting more confused the more I read. Who has suggestions.

SWFA SS 10x42 (HD if you have $800/ regular if you have $300).
Bushnell elite

I havent tried the SS HD, but I have 2 of the regular SS scopes, and I love them. The bushnell is good too, IMO a little clearer than the SS scopes.

I'm wishing to use this gun between 600-1000 yards, It won't be a carry rifle, I have a 300 Win Mag for that. This I plan on leaving it at Elk Camp until the time comes to perch up on a high ridge. Chances are I may never even fire this at an elk, but I want to be prepared if I can use it.

What is your AR 30 chambered in? 338?

I'd go to the Optics section and start reading that. You'll learn enough to make a well informed decision for yourself pretty quickly and feel confident with your choice.

I've also heared great things about the Vortex scopes. As an option to think about, you might look up the SWFA SS fixed power scopes. I believe they are around $300. The SWFA SS scopes come with tactical turrets so you can actually dial in your shot for those ranges, and if your locked on 600-1000 yards you might not need anything but a fixed power. IMHO

Oh shit! If I would have read a little more I would have seen someone already Optioned the SWFA SS scopes. So ditto!

lets see here.......you got a pig of a gun that you will not/can not schlepp around with....so now you just need to ambush some poor critter with some cheap glass shooting cheap bullits i presume .......maybe de-linked Pakistani or some indian yellow tip.

maybe a 500yard bullit on a good day.......

yeah i would swing for a super sniper .

Thanks everyone for the suggestions. Well I was able to scratch up a little more, picked up a Vortex Viper Rifle Scope 30mm 6.5-20x 50mm Dead-Hold BDC, and Burris 30mm Xtreme Tactical Rings. I'm gonna handload with 250 gr Nosler Accubond bullets, Hodgdon H1000, and Hornady brass. Wish me luck.

Great choice! I was able to compare my NF to a Viper the other day and was pretty dang impressed with the Viper which is considerably cheaper than the NF. The one major drawback I could see right off the bat was the wire cross-hairs on the BDC/Mildot weren't cut very cleanly so the edges of the wires looked jagged.

Thanks Binder, I really hope it turns out to be decent, (and by what all the fine folks on here say I'm sure it will) but it will more than likely be short lived on that gun. When I get the $$$ I plan on getting a Bushnell Elite 6500 4.5-30x with the DOA 600 Reticle for the "30". Then I'll probably move this over to a varmintier "15" that is slowly coming along.
