Rifle Scopes Got an offer of a nice leupold need advice

Friend wants to sell his leupold vari-x III 3.5X10X50 couple of years old. He got it with an ar10.

Whats the fair price (as in it would sit on here but if it fits someones needs perfectly he could get for it) and whats the it would be gone fast price?

I have an ior 1.5-8X26 would it be a big improvement for shooting 600 yards for me on top of my 6.5 grendel? Or save my trading fodder (I have stuff he wants so can trade him for it) cause its not really a big advantage.

I'm looking at trading a red dot and some ammo I got in another trade for it, because at present I have one good long range scope, switching back and forth between rifles is a PITA. So would if it would be even a decent improvement even if not ideal I'll get it.

We are going to need a bit more information to get you a good number. 1" or 30MM tube? Target knobs,standard adjustments,or M1 or M3 knobs? Side parallex or AO? Reticle? Like new or drug behind a truck?

The numbers range from $500 to $800 depending on the answers to those questions.
