Range Report Gotta brag a bit, My girls can flat out shoot!

Took my 2nd " daughter" and her BF shooting today.
Shyla, not to be confused with Shayla, had only fired 1 round out of a rifle before, with out much success. She had a tough time getting a good sight picture with Shayla's rifle back then so I knew the challenge was to overcome this.
We spent several minutes in the teaching mode and a few dry firings. She was GTG so we loaded up the R-Bro's built 6.5x47L, had 1.75 mils wind dialed in and 3 mils up for the 595 yard shot.
She went 7 straight on the 12"x16" steel, then I missed a let up on the wind and she missed her 8th shot. I was very proud of her to say the least. She then got behind my 338Lapua, and while being slightly intimidated, she squeezed off a 300 grain MK. At 5'0" ~95#'s, the 338 LM had quite a bit more 'jump' to it than with me behind it. Even still she did the one shot one 'kill' at 595 with it!
She finished the evening shooting a G-19, a G-22, a Ruger MK1 and a suppressed AR-15. I think she's hooked.

I always noticed that girls pick up shooting a lot faster than boys. In particular the teen and up age group. I am guessing it has a lot to do with how girls will listen inventively to instruction and boys kind of figure they know how to do it anyways from the movies

It's always fun to take my girl shooting at the city indoor range. There will be so many couples there doing the date thing with their targets looking all messed up from the 7 yard line. When they look over to our lane there's a target all the way to the back with a 1.5 inch ragged hole deadnuts center from my 617. The look on the guys face when they see its my girlfriend shooting is priceless.

Man all this talk from fellow hiders about first rifles for the kids and taking kids out shooting makes me wish I had a kid already.

Kids are great, but you will shoot LESS as a result of them. Not a bad thing, just reality.

Awesome story on the girl's first time shooting. I have two girls - but my wife will fight me hard if I tried taking them out. Maybe some day...

That's a great story! My wife had never really seen a "gun" up close until we met. It's funny because now she has two of her sisters out at the house digging through the safe so they can "kill" some fruit and cans and of course the tannerite. she is a good shot. Now if I can talk her into freezing her butt off with me during hunting season.........
JamesBailey, as far as your wife goes....... let the girls decide. Don't let her dictate what can and will happen. If they don't like it, they don't like it. If they do, well.....
I am fighting my sister in law over letting my nephew and niece shoot. Her arguments still stand, but then again they are very young, yet she has given in when they get a little more age to them. Like I told her, in the proper environment any gun is safe, fun, and a good tool. Can anyone say that about vehicles out on the road everyday, yet we jump in without a thought.
Okay, sorry for the small rant, happy shooting everyone!!!

Taking my girlfriend and sister out shooting soon, hopefully they enjoy it as much as I do. On a side note, one girl I was seeing years back never shot a rifle before, and in 1 week was making me sweat a bit... I don't understand females uncanny ability to pick it up so fast. (Those that do anyways)
