Anyone have a Gradious Rifle that they would like to commment about. How does it shoot and what you like about his rifles. I do not rember ever seeing one of his rifles for sale. I was talking to him earlier today and he sounds like a top notch gunsmith. His shop looks like you could eat off the floor

Re: Gradous Rifles

I'm actually going to have a rifle built by Mr. Gradous. Mr. Gradous is going to call me tomorrow to finalize the build specs, and then it begins, the wait.

I spoke with him a few times, and he does seem to know his stuff. He tells you how it is, and that's that. No sugar coating, no BS, I like that.

What kind if build you looking at getting??

If you search the hide, On member, I think Tangotime just had .260 built by Gradous.. In that thread there were numerous pics to the process it was a great thread..

Re: Gradous Rifles

Robert is what he seems. No bullshit about what he likes, and don't believe him when he says he can't shoot.

He built my rifle in March and it still is nice to pull it out of the safe. The rifle shoots as good as it looks and that is saying something. It also likes everything I put in it, but I don't load junk or plinking ammo.

There is something special about his 308 reamers, but he ain't talking and I wouldn't understand it anyway.

He also ain't cheap, but I will say my rifle is worth more to me than I paid. You won't regret having him build a rifle.

Mine is:
Surgeon RSR w/mount
308 Krieger HV 24" 1x10"
Jewel
Badger M4
McM A5 adj
NF 5.5-22x50 ZS w/NF rings
Coyote tan Ceracote

Re: Gradous Rifles

Robert Gradous has a vested interest, actually an intellectual investment into the Surgeons. Some (not all) of the key features that Surgeon offers in their rifles comes from the mind of that humble gentleman with the Jawja tones.

I've spoken with him on the phone a number of times, he's a very sharp guy and he builds a helluva rifle. The reason that you don't see many of his rifles for sale is that I'd sooner sell my favorite dog than get rid of something that he built.

He's been kind enough to guide me as I started working towards building better rifles and you can't go wrong with getting a rifle from him.

Re: Gradous Rifles

Once you experience Robert and shoot one of his rifles it just doesn't make sense to sell it. During the build it is a pleasure to deal with the no nonsense type of guy that Robert is. If he tells you something you can take it to the bank. You are in for a real treat when Robert build's a rifle for you.
I am proud to call him Friend.

Glad to see you found my thread. Robert is good to go. He'll shoot you as straight as the rifles he builds and I can tell you that's like a laser. There's no bs or fluff with Robert. I wished I lived closer to him to be able to hang out with him more. Hopefully I'll get that chance again in the next few months. I've got another build plan up my sleeve.

Re: Gradous Rifles

I don't go out of my way to comment on many smiths. Robert is one that I have no problem doing so. If you are thinking of having him build you a rifle and you don't it's your own damn fault. I met Robert Probably 10 years ago and still find him to be the same straight up honest guy I met way back when. That says a lot in this industry today.
