Great News But I still need help

So I just got my mcmillan a2 stock in today with a declerator pad.

Stats on it: Badger ordance metal inlets, shortaction set right now for remington action and varmint barrel.

I want to shoot at about a 1000 yards with it.

Will a 22inch barrel from gap be sufficient? What would be a good twist on it?

For the action I can get a pretty good deal on a new surgeon or should I go with something else badger or?

the scope is going to be a us optics

Not sure about the twist rate, but 1-10 should work just fine, everything else seems great, a 22" will get you to 1,000.

I am going with a .308

on the action i am open to anything. Most of the companies use the same grade metal. But I can get a surgeon action new for 900. badger actions are around 1200 i think.

I want a superb rifle btw

Both awesome actions. The badger has that sweet 60 degree bolt throw and the ability to user swap barrels a little easier than the surgeon. If you are sticking with one barrel it narrows the competition. Get cuts done for the AW mag. Sounds like you are on the right track.

Cool! I think the badger action will be my choice. I am still debating on 22 or 24 inch barrel.

I wanted to do half usmc standard on the m40a2 and some parts from my own decision.

it isn't, personally, I think that the surgeon actions are held to a tighter tolerance than the badger actions are

You have an A2 stock already, you need to go with the Surgeon.

You "might" be able to inlet the A2 for the Badger, but it looks like an aborted afterthought. Go Surgeon, you'll be happier in in the end.

And 22" is the way to fly too.

Badgers are great but you dont have the correct inlet and that is going to be a LOT OF CNC work for your smith to make it right. your labor bill will be less with the surgeon.
