Green Laser

Re: Green Laser

Another option might be a light/laser combo. Viridan makes a line of green lasers, and their X5L compact laser/flashlight combo is one option. The newer gen 2 X5L comes in a pistol rail version (X5L model); or a rifle version for mil spec rails (X5L-RS) that includes a remote tape switch. Note that these are two different models, not an interchangeable endcap. The one thing I didn't like about the rail version was that it ONLY activated via tape switch. It has a number of modes, including programmable flash pattern.

They advertise 200yds day and 2mi visibilty at night. Don't know about 2 miles, but it is ridiculous how far that thing sends its beam. Was very impressed with the flashlight as well.

Optics Planet carries both models.

Re: Green Laser

I picked up LaserLyte K15 for my 308 carbine. The beam goes out to 45 yards if lasing a dark shadow target during the day, 75-100 yards in dusk and sunrise light, at night out to 150 yards and more. Has stayed on zero so far.

Re: Green Laser

the eye is more sensitive in the green than in the any other colour (if we don't go too much into details). at the same output power, you ought to notice the green better.

I was shown this unit by a work colleague utilizing it for optical testing. Not really a good targeting solution at distance based on its non uniform spot size, divergence, and the fact you need to wear laser goggles to safely operate it. I'm also not so sure about it's beam pointing stability since it's not specified. Nevertheless, a very cool device that you could have some fun with.

On a side note, I really can't believe any jabroni with cash can buy this thing as it is extremely dangerous.

Re: Green Laser

Surefire is coming out with a Green Laser/ LED weapon light this year. Its looks nice, but I know the Surefire will be expensive because its a surefire lol

The Insight (EoTech) has a lifetime warranty, which is nice and caught my eye. Only concern is they state that the Green Laser is visible with a range of 200 meters. Not sure if they mean 200 meters during the day or what. There is no other info on their website. Other companies say their laser can be seen for miles at night time. So is this laser not powerful?

The Viridian looks nice, but it has a 12 month warranty.
The insight does look the best, but I need to get some answers first..

Would like to hear from someone who have a Insight (Eotech) weapons light.

Re: Green Laser

I have been running a Viridian C5L for some time now. The mounting system can use some work, but the programming is great and the laser is wicked bright. Green is nice because our TASERS are red. Limits confusion. I am not a big fan of lasers on handguns, but for shield work they are the bomb.

Pointing something like this at an aircraft will get you a felony terrorism charge...and gps on the aircraft make it real easy to get the exact position of the spot.

Just sayin-

Laser Devices DBAL - i2

They are expensive indeed. Paid ~900 for mine in green. I'd been eyeballing one for over a year and wrestled with the idea of owning it. Is it worth the 900.00? Is it practical for me as a civilian? No and No. And I dont regret it one bit.

Green lasers do go thru batteries fast. It has been said they do not withstand extreme cold temperatures as well as Red lasers either.

But they are brighter and I can see them easier than red in daylight.
Viridian is a nice unit. Especially the newer version. </div></div>

funny analogy

Re: Green Laser

Let me ask you guys this. On my SBR, I have about 2" of Picatinny rail where my Gas Block is. This rail is separate and a little lower than the hand guard quad rail.
So, is it safe to mount one of these Micro Laser pointers on this small rail above the gas block, or will it get too hot and melt the laser?

A true statement. Some nights I wish I could call in a JDAM.

Re: Green Laser

Got my Eotech LED/ Green Laser in the mail today. I must say I am impressed with the quality and construction of this light. The laser is bright as hell also. I found one online still in a sealed box. Shipped to me was $225! Try fidning one cheaper than that.
