Gunsmithing Grizzly G4003 Lathe

I found a used Grizzly G4003 for sale (looks like an older model). This is not the 4003G "gunsmith" model.

Is this suitable for gunsmithing work?

Yep, should be fine. I think the 4003 is about perfect for those of us not doing this sort of thing for a living (gunsmithing).

I purchased an older Grizzly 4002 and am very happy with it. The spindle bore is big enough to chamber through the headstock and mine was wired 220 single phase so it was an easy hook up for my basement. The 4003 should work well if it is at a decent price and has not been abused. If you can see it run and insure the electrical switches, gears and feed screw work correctly, that would be a big plus.

Is there anything in particular to look for as far a wear is concerned on these lathes?
What's fair market value on something like this, if it's in good condition? I know that new ones are around $2900.
