Hi Guys,Can anyone tell me why Gunbroker seems to be getting less and less private individual sellers, and also it seems there are a lot less bids on anything that Gunbroker is selling these days, people seem to be leaving that site in droves what is going on.

Re: Gunbroker

People are holding onto their money... Prices are down. Things don't sell unless they are really priced to move. Retail and wholesale warehouses do not have the inventory they used to have on hand or available to them in a timely matter...

Re: Gunbroker

As an FFL dealer, I'd say Outlaw hit it on the head. As a dealer, you really have to be patient and give things twice as long to sell as you used to. I've never not had anything sell that I had listed, however, what would usually sell in a week to 10 days, now may take 3 weeks or more. As such, things move slower, meaning less profits overall during a month, thus not the product turn-over I was used to a year or two ago. Wild.

To add to what Outlaw said. I remember when E-gay started and the incredible deals you could find. Now, it's nothing but retailers and they're asking for the same price, and sometimes more, as you'll find in the stores.

Re: Gunbroker

Deals can still be found on more expensive pieces that say a small shop can't afford to have collecting dust because the expected buyer backed out.

+1 to Mike and Outlaw's comments. I still manage to find some good pricing on certain items, but it isn't the same as it was a few years ago.

Also, and I may be wrong on this as I do not really sell anything on GB, but didn't they increase pricing for auctions a while back or at least add some addt'l charges for "addt'l features" like multiple pics, etc., etc.? I seem to recall seeing an e-mail from GB about a new pricing structure, new auction types/offerings/etc. a while back and I think that put a lot of the smaller retailers and certainly the private sellers off and moved them toward other "free" options for selling their goods online. Plus, I think that by GB's own marketing strategies/designs, they have really focused more and more on the larger retailers, volume dealers, etc. instead of individuals which makes sense because they are never going to make the kind of money on smaller, individual sales as they can with high-volume dealers/wholesalers/etc.

Re: Gunbroker

Well thats to bad for Gunbroker, pushing out the REAL auction people (small sellers) is sure killing there sales,if you take a look at there site today, you will notice a huge drop in bids on anything they sell, why go to an auction site that has little to no REAL auctions.Gunbroker is going to way of Ebay ADIOS!
At least with Gunsamerica the price someone wants is listed so you dont have to spend a week trying to win something that a seller wants full price for anyway.and yeah they raised there selling prices like ebay did, which was a deal killer for most sellers who refuse to pay outragous prices to sell there own guns.

Re: Gunbroker

I just go there to compare prices on things that I want. They have at least brought some prices down in the local gun shops. Not too different then going to Gun Shows anymore - Junk and high prices except for some ammo deals every now and again.

Re: Gunbroker

I've been pretty disenchanted with the auction sites for a while now. When I was shopping for a cheap Rem M700 for a build I ended up just going to the local store and bought a new model off the shelf and dismantled it, since it was only about $50 more than a used, bare action, shipped to an FFL.

I deal locally anymore unless it's a smokin' deal on components.

Re: Gunbroker

I sold a AMT Lightning 25/22 and people were willing to me a lot more than it was worth so I would also say if it is something more a specialty item someone is looking for then they are stilling buying without any issues. But as others mentioned easy to find items are not moving as much.
