I'm actually curious on this as well (in NOVA), I have a savage barrel I'd like threaded for a suppresor

there is a place that does ar15/10 barrels for $50 and recuts the crown. $250 sounds high unless you are getting a custom blended thread protector with a target crown. even then, $250 is up there. but just to thread, why pay more? but a $20-$30 generic thread protector. plus you may save a little by buying a wrench to get the barrel off and just ship that somewhere to a machinist that isnt an FFL. barrels can ship for $10 maybe more with insurance. so keep that in mind.
