Hello,
Sorry if this isnt the right spot, but has anyone ever had issues getting gear back from a gunsmith? I paid this guy $350 for a barrel last summer and it never came in, I tried to contact and he was practically impossible to get to answer his phone, emails, etc. I even have his cell phone number. He was supposed to bring the money and the reamer of m in ne to mammoth, which he says he had there, but I jacked my back up on day 2 and my partner and I left that morning after the first ruck. Since then I've been trying to get my money and reamer back and even sent a prepaid box to him to send it back in. Roughly 3 weeks after he got the box he replied to an email and said "it's in the mail" this was march 9th. Nothing showed for another week, and finally I got $340 in the mail in an envelope on the 19th that was post marked on the 16th, not the 9th when he told me it was in the mail. I still have not recieved the reamer, the prepaid package I sent him, and am out $10. Everything is a cash only business with him, and no receipt. Is there anything I can do to force his hand to get my stuff back. At this point it's just a facebook joke and is annoying. Any help or answers?
Thanks in Advance

What have you learned from this experience? Ask the cops in his area if they can stop by his house and ask for your stuff back. Ohterwise, learn from your mistakes.

I had a "smith" {I use that term lightly} Thread 2 barrels for me. Drove 1 hr. picked them up, payed, and went home.
Attempted to thread on my can, and it stopped about half way down. Long story short he screwed up all three. Wouldn't answer anything.
I called the company that refered me to him. Sent everything to them and they redone all of it. After a few months I took a good friend with me to his business when he opened. I kept my back to him as he came in and locked the gaurd dogs in the other room. His jaw dropped when I faced him and asked if he remembered me. I walked out with money in hand. My friend didn't have to say or do anything but stand there.

He used the improper method of cut it til something threads on like a muzzle device or a nut. There are 4 proper ways to check threads. Listed in increasing cost order.

Thread wires.

I tell everyone local what he's up to. Use a Class 3 smith, for your threading.
I bring in the threading tech info from Thunderbeast web page. If they can't make that happen. Don't do business with them.
