Not sure if this is feasible or desirable, could a barrel from one action be removed, re-threaded/ chambered (such the set back method), and then put on a different action. Back story: recently acquired a Accuracy International AX and currently have a stiller with a Proof Research carbon fiber barrel. Instead of buying a new barrel for the AX and doubling up, I was wondering if the barrel could be transferred? Normally the cost of a new barrel would be a better option than re-chambering, but since its a Proof, it ain't cheap to begin with. The metal surrounding the chamber area seems that it could be possible, before the CF starts. I am also not sure that even if this is possible, the fact that the new thread dimensions and what not are AI and I'm not sure if those dimensions are shared??? Just curious.......

With that scenario, no. Proof recommends merely facing the back off the barrel prior to chambering to leave as much steel as possible in the chamber area. After you hack off the current tenon, you’ve only 1.5” of steel till you reach the carbon, which happens to be the exact length of the AI tenon.
