Thank you for the offer for the BC and MV. I have a question regarding the dope for drop and wind. Lets say we spot a deer out on the hillside hunting. I laser the deer to give me a shooting solution and it tells me 17 moa. Now does it tell me what to dial or hold in moa per 5mph with that same one touch shot, or do i have to scroll through a seperate menu afterwards to find my wind? </div></div>

There are 4 buttons on the rangefinder.

Two smaller ones on the left side, 'up' arrow and 'down' arrow
Two in the center, one big 'Fire the Friggin Laser' and one medium 'mode' button.

When you are in normal use, the mode flips between near/far like the ARC and a lot of other rangefinders, and also has a 'continuous' mode.

Fire the laser, of course, fires the laser.

Using a BC profile, you fire the laser. You get back the range, and about 1 sec later, the display gives you your drop in MOA or a shoot to distance for BDC turrets.
At that point, you can push 'up' or 'down' (single button press) to move your wind from 5/10/15/20.

So it's not another menu, but it is another single button press. If you are using the rangefinder with two hands to hold steady, the buttons are in a natural position.

Found this on another forum for those interested.

Setting it up for my ballistic profie was simple. It allows you to store up to 5 ballistic profiles. You can change the unit so it will read in MOA or BDC on you weapon of choice. My gunwerks is set up with a BDC so I began to set up my profile.

1. Load decription. Mine is a 7MM LRM
2. THE drag STD you want to use. G1 or G7 Mine G1
3. Your Bal Coef. Im shooting 180 Gr berger VLD so mine is .659
4. Muzzle VEl mine 3035
5. Scope height 1.7
6. Turret tempature. Mine was set up for 50 degrees
7. Turret ALT mine 5000 ft
8. Zero range 200 yards

After you set your entries you save it. Pretty simple.

Thats all there is to setting it up.

After the setup you are finished. The BR2 has a internal ballistic calculator that automatically compensates for all the varibles which include Elevation, Tempature, Barometric pressure, and incline.</div></div>

Wow 2x4mrad beam Divergence is pretty damn big. </div></div>

I don't understand the beam widths on these things. I've seen $20 laser pointers with tighter beams.

I assume all civilian-legal rangefinders are shooting at the 5mW Class III laser limit, so doesn't tightening the beam -- holding all else constant -- translate directly to longer range capabilities? </div></div>

Oops, let me correct myself: At least the Bushnells, per their manual, are Class I. No indication what the laser power is, nor beam width. I'd like to know all that plus laser frequency for all the competitors.

Re: Gunwerks new rangefinder ??

I thought this was an interesting statement by Shawn Carlock. I think this unit is exactly what im after. I plan on doing long range hunting and shooting competitions out to the limits of the G7. Im not after a $1,800 rangefinder that is only going to give me a range to a target even if it can reach 3,000yds. I want to consolidate some equipment, get rid of the computers, or at least a combo bino rangefinder. I don't have any rifles currently that would remain supersonic out to 3,000 yds or anywhere close.

<span style="font-style: italic">Shawn Carlock</span>
"I asked them about beam div when they send me the G7 and I read the specs. They talked of the programing in the RF to be able to detect beam strength from the multiple pulses given off by one firing of the unit. It then gives you the strongest feed back range, this is usually the most verticle target (side of the animal). Signals with less strength are culled in favor of the strongest signal. It is my understanding that the large beam div was made on purpose to accomodate this target strength technology. I was somewaht skeptical but what they told me made sense. I may have not made my testing clear because the large beam div was a concern to me as well. <span style="color: #FF0000">I ranged probably a hundred targets from rock faces to stumps on a nearly flat ridge top (going down the ridge). Out to 1400 yards there was never more than a yard or 2 difference between the G7 and the Vectronix.</span> This really suprised me as I thought the results would be much different. Now at longer distances say 1700-2000 yards there were some diferences in range but this is not the operating zone of the G7 nor was it ever intended to be. Out to any distance the G7 will give you a balistic solution it stayed right with my Vetronix. I used it all hunting season in the locations I thought the shooting was going to be under 1400 yards. Now I don't have quick access to rolling sage flats so was not able to test there but <span style="color: #FF0000">I tested in locations that would have given a Swaro or Leica fits due to the flat nature of the terrain.</span> My opinion is still the same if you are a 3 digit shooter or even <span style="color: #FF0000">out to 1200-1300 yards the G7 has a serious speed advantage and I could not see where my Vertonix/Recon/Kestrel/ ACI setup had even a single advantage over the G7.</span> I won't be getting rid of my other setup anytime in the future but I have left it at home in favor of the G7 quite a few times."

Re: Gunwerks new rangefinder ??

Is anyone on these boards from G7?

I've been emailing to find out if a mil version will be offered, but they won't respond. On one hand I think to myself, well they maybe don't want to let the cat out of the bag on the mil version until they get the existing stock of moa versions sold.

On the other hand, I think to myself that these guys use MOA for everything, maybe they are just hard headed or don't care about what their consumers want or need.
