Am i the only one loading h414 with a wmlr primer in the 260?I am getting 3200 fps with 100 grain barnes and 3000 fps with 120 nosler ballistic tips out of a 20 inch barrel model 7.

Re: H 414 in the 260

Shhhhh......

Brag too much about stuff and it ends up getting sold out all the time.

I like the fact I can always find H414 for my .308 based cases......

Re: H 414 in the 260

I tried some W760 (H414's identical twin) in my 260 with the 123 A-Max and one grain below book max for 120gr bullets generated extremely unsafe pressure in my chamber.

Probably didn't help that the rounds had been in the sun on an 85° day...

Re: H 414 in the 260

No bragging here.Just my findings with a chrony.Seems like everyone likes H4350.I have loaded imr 4350 with the 120 grain nosler ballistic tip and it shoots as good as any load i have but it's slow.Imr 4831 with a 95 grain vmax looks promising.I think i need a half grain more powder.I believe in a winchester magnum rifle primer to light ball powder like h414/w760 is key.

Re: H 414 in the 260

For the record, the load that gave me extreme pressure was 44.5gr W760; book shows W760/H414 never exceed with a 120gr bullet to be 45.5gr.

Never had a primer get blown out before...not keen on seeing it again either.

It did go nearly 3150fps across the chrony! <grin>
