Was wanting to get loading for my 357 Mag and this looked to hold some promise. Has anyone used it?

Re: H110

I use H110 in my GP-100 (6"bbl). I'm using 16.7gr under 158gr JHP's and I'm getting somewhere between 1200-1300fps. Sorry for the wide window there, its been over a year since I ran it over a chrono. It is possible that I could load hotter than that, but I was a beginning reloader at that time and was afraid of going over max charge weights. Now that I know what pressure signs look like, I may see what sort of performance I could squeeze out of her.

Also of note is that this powder will not work well with a shorter barrel. I'm getting considerable flash out of my 6" gun. Accuracy is good enough for the ranges that I'll shoot it to.

Re: H110

the 158 grain head and 16 gr of h110 load i used grouped very well out of the 6" 686 with red dot scope at 50 yards. good enough that i'm taking it along this year for coyotes for short/quick shots and would have no problems using it for deer at 50 yards. i'll post up a picture soon of the target.

Re: H110

I use H110 for a lot of things, it's an awesome powder.

357 mag load is 125 XTP's with 21.5gr and Win SP primer. This is very hot, so start at 20gr and work up. BTW, Hodgdon's online data uses a 10" barreled test pistol, so don't be too disappointed if the 6" barrel doesn't get 1950 fps from 125 JHP's

44 Mag I've used it under 240 cast bullets for quite nice velocities, but generally I use it under the 200 XTP's w/ 28.5gr of powder for a solid 1700 fps from the 9.5" barreled revolver.

Have no worries about it, it's probably the "perfect" powder for mag pistols if there ever was such a thing. It also meters wonderfully.

It's perfect up the point of downloading the charges. It's good for Max ONLY. The mfr warns of not reducing the loads (also for W296, same stuff). If you need to adjust your loads, use a different powder, like 2400.

Good point. I've never downloaded H110 before, it makes wonderful fireballs from revolvers, I like that

Re: H110

all .357 mag 6" barrel, 686 s&w, red dot sight. The top three are 125 jhp, the 6 in black are 158 jhp moly 16 gr h-110, 50 yards from a bag. 2.5", if it wasn't for the one below 3:00, would have been 1.5".
