Hey guys, had a question, I hope this is an ok place to put it. I've got a couple of rifles for sale, you may have seen the listing with the sakos. I've gotten alot of interest in the rifles, but one dealer from on here offered me a deal for 3 of the 5 rifles. No big deal, I told him I'd take it. He called me, we spoke about the deal, he said he would send me a copy of his FFL and the check. This was Tuesday. He said I would have the check Wed, he was over nighting it because he said he was leaving the country for a week or so. He was sending a company check, because he knew he was going to be out of the country, so it didn't matter that I waited the 5 or so days it took for the money to clear before I shipped the rifles. No big deal.

Well, now its Thursday, and I still don't have the check. He is "out of the country" so I can't get ahold of him. He did not send me a tracking number for the check/FFL. I don't want to loose the sale on the rifles, as I've got other interested parties that are waiting in line if something falls threw. I don't know what the norm is on this site, but from my other dealings online, if the money doesn't show, try contacting to get info on how was shipped, etc, if can't prove it was sent, move on to the next in line. Problem is he said he is out of the country. So I would normally just move to the next in line.

But I'm kind of new to this site, and don't want to piss anyone off. I'm open to suggestions. I just don't want to wait two weeks to wait for him to get back into the country and then get the money. I mean, its $7k+. If it was $15? Maybe not such a big deal. But he said that I would have the money Wed before he left the country, and nothing. I didn't see any guidelines from snipershide suggestioning how long to wait, so I figure hopefully some members or mods might want to chime in so I don't do something out of line.

Thanks,
Donald

if it were me I would give him until the weekend to deliver on the check. Then if I still didn't have it I would sell the rifles to other parties.

You can always return the check "uncashed" and refund his postage, IF it ever shows up.

So far it's been a day. I'm with JCH but would wait a little longer. He might not have made it to the PO in time that day. I normally expect payment within a week.

I've sent payments that took an extra day or so and I've also had stuff arrive sooner than expected. Personally, if someone else offered to buy one of the 'sold' rifles I'd let them be second in line and try one more time to get in touch with the first buyer.

I don't think there has been any attack on anyone's character to this point so it shouldn't be a problem to post the user's name. It may give those who have had dealings with this person a chance to vouch for them. There are quite a few guys here that I would send a rifle to on their word alone. Your buyer may be one of them and the members may be able to set your mind at ease.
