Carrying a VOM is always handy & used properly will find any electrical issue plus during a PM will also find most issues prior to.
There are times when a VOM is not needed (or wanted aka claiming ect)to find a feed line antenna issue that can't be seen with the Mk 1 eyeball.
Most feed lines & antennas are 50 ohm. The item in the photo is the same, and also drives home the point that a 1-1 match, does not mean you have a good antenna.A 50ohm resistor & and a SO239.
The same type of thing can be made for whatever type of feed line or antenna system you have. I fined when climbing the less I have to fiddle with the better. I Carry one with every mobile & portable for fast checks or should the vom battery's go belly up.
