I like loads in this range. Federal brass is about 43.5 gr varget, lapua is about 44.0, and other brass may take more powder (don't forget to start in a safe range and work up). Also try some 155 scenars.

This is very similar to my load. I shoot the 178gr A-Max in front of 45.2gr of varget in federal brass and CCI large rifle primers. Bullets are seated to 2.833" overall length.

This load is over book maximum pressure but shoots safely in my gun, do not assume yours will shoot it safely, work up to it.

All those, and if you want a nice 50Y reduced load plinking round 147 m80 pulled bullet over 31 H4895, you should not have to adjust your scope. Clocked around 1820 fps.

168 SMK , 43.4 grains of Varget , Federal GMM primer , Hornady Match brass . In My 26 inch varmint is close to MOA to 400 , and probably better in a better shooters hands .

Re: Handloads in Remington 700 p

My latest pet load for a 700 SPS-V 26" in a B&C Medalist stock:

155gr SMK (2155)
43.5gr RL-15
Winchester brand brass - 1x fire-formed and neck-sized
Federal 210M primers
2.005" trim
2.775" COAL

Best so far for 5-shots is 0.581 MOA at 300yd.

Re: Handloads in Remington 700 p

Nick,

I shoot in much the same weather in the seasons you do. I live in Iowa. I have four go to loads.

My low recoil range practice loads are as follows:

Federal cases full length resized, trimmed to 2.007, CCI200 primers, 40.0 gr Varget, 175 gr SMK or 178 gr AMAX. Coal on match kings is 2.82, 2.835 for amax. These shoot 1 hole groups for me at 100 yds, 7/8 inch at 200 last weekend. Perform same hot or cold. I get avg m velocity if 2470 fps from this load.

My other go to is exactly the same just a 43.5 gr charge of varget. Getting same accuracy and m velocity of 2680 fps.

Hope this helps....
