Just got a Ruger RPR.
Bolt is very hard to open and close
Not a smooth closure at all.
Tough to pull open also.
Am I just looking at a breaking period, or a real problem.
Thanks, Ron

Take bolt apart, clean and grease appropriate contact points, then cycle it about a 1000 times. It will improve.

Sorry. Assumed you were talking about difficulty while chambering a round.

Hard closure with reloads? How do factory rounds cycle?
May not be rifle and just need more shoulder bump...?

Is this hard closure on an empty chamber or trying on a round?

This is on an empty chamber.
With the bolt cycled all the way back.
Starting to push bolt forward, it starts to stick and drag at the halfway point.

It is dragging on the magazine. Remove magazine and try it.

The above.

I had a Atlas Tactical that was smooth but I ran the bolt quite a bit getting used to it. Now it is buttery smooth. With a production type action I’d attempt to do this. If that doesn’t help you can take it to a gunsmith or back to the shop you bought it from. Preferably to the shop as a guns, other would cost you more on a gun that should already work.
