What are some of the toughest suppressors you guys have used? I know some are rated for full auto, 30,000 rounds ect, but I am more interested in personal stories of hard use and long life, something you are proud to own.

Re: Hard use suppressors

I know I've beat my M4-2000 to hell & the baffle stack still looks great & 98% of rounds have been from a 10.5" & full auto!

I'm starting to run a SureFire 212, & its looking good, but only a few hundred rounds so far.

Re: Hard use suppressors

I have a lot of rounds on a KAC N6. 10.5" SBR setup and I run courses with it. Ive had it red hot before and cooled it with motor oil. It still looks new on the inside once I dip it in the ultrasonic cleaner solution for a few minutes.

Re: Hard use suppressors

I have a SureFire 212 that I have probably put well over 10K rounds through in the last year with no issues. I have taken this to courses and also use it for shooting drills and demos. It gets shot on a lot of guns and in May I put over 4K rounds through it in 2 weeks on a 10.5 inch gun and numerous times running drills it has been glowing red and actually lit a barrier on fire on accident.

I have a first gen M4-2000 (serial number below 100). It's seen way more than 10k rounds on full-auto from 10.5" and 14.5" barrels and shows no signs of failure. The blast baffle does not look pristine but I notice no change in sound signature.

Long stories short...

I have an M4-2000 I put over 20K documented rounds through. Erosion in the core is pretty bad but the suppressor still sounds great. The can has at least 5 ounces of carbon buildup in it. Most of the use has been 11.5" barrel ARs with a lot of full-auto use. For about 18 months the suppressor was used for demos. Got another with more the 10K rounds through it mostly through 11.5" barrel full-autos with brakes. The core looks better than the core on the higher volume suppressor that had most use on the AAC Phantom and Blackout flash suppressors.

After having the suppressors re-finished...

Shot other M42Ks on the M249 quite a bit too. Honestly, the shorter barrel guns are harder on the cans than the belt-fed. This is one of the first ratchet model M42Ks...

One of my Ops Inc 16th Models has at least 15K rounds through it mostly from a select-fire M4 (14.5" barrel). I've replaced the brake on that rifle once and am about in need of another replacement. But the can's core looks great and it sounds identical to my other lesser used, 16th Model.

The M4 in its original configuration.

Re: Hard use suppressors

By comparison it doesn't appear that I have a high round count at all. I've been through quite a few cases of ammo so I'd guess around 1,500 to 2,000 over a few years. 99% of my shots have been from actual hunts and 1% sighting in or testing ammo. Many hog hunts have resulted in multiple magazine dumps. Can is YHM Phantom. I've got no complaints. If I did I wouldn't still be using it. Got this guy over the weekend.

Re: Hard use suppressors

I didn't weigh him. Normally I'd guess around 300, and he may be; however, I usually guess high. Still, I'd say over 250. The side view shows more of him.

We gone through several suppressors on a M249 SAW. Gemtech G5, M42Ks and a couple of 249SDs. Just this past Saturday we had the pin that holds in the latch come off a 249SD, good thing it didn't come off. And this was after the latch itself wasn't heat treated correctly and was coming loose at the AAC Silencer shoot.

My Ops Inc 16th on the other hand, has gone through many many mag dumps and it's still rocking on. I went through at least 5-600 rounds this weekend testing out the new SF 60 round mags.
