I'm curious to know the varying hardness levels of cerakote. Both c and h series. Brinell and Rockwell both are prominent and comparable in my life. Pencils hardness. Not so much. Thanks for the help. Also state the source of the testing if you know it.

Re: Hardness of cerakote?

I have found it to be as durable as what it's applied to. Plastic and aluminum it will scratch through when the base metal comes off. Just a dent and it stays put. Apply it to a tool steel 16" Crecent wrench and it is so tough I could beat a rifle in two with it and barely make a mark on the wrench. To put it another way, if you mishandled any of my firearms hard enough to damage the coating we could not be friends anymore.

Source: Me. If you want to come by and take a whack at it please do. I have a few cull barrels that we coated that are laying in the dirt outside and some are pretty abused but the coating is in tact and all the coated areas remain rust free.

Far from impossible using nanoindentation testing, but that's a little exotic for most people.

Harder than woodpecker lips, frozen even.
