Good day,

I'm putting the finishing touches on the 2011 schedule for Hardrock Matches, with plans to send it Sunday or Monday. Everyone who has shot at HR previously and gets the match results will get the schedule, except the twelve folks whose email address is bad. If you are new to shooting at HR and would like the schedule, please send me a PM with your First Name, Last Name, and email address. I will not send anything without the information requested.

Thanks,
DocB

Re: Hardrock Match Schedule for 2011

Good day,

Schedule has been sent. Please give the email servers 24 hours to deliver it. 35 folks have a bad address, full mailboxes, or some other problem with their address.

Thanks,
DocB

Good day,

All PMs have a reply. Palma, drag the kids on out with you. Gives the folks who don't shoot something to play with.

Have fun,
DocB

Re: Hardrock Match Schedule for 2011

Tried the new set of muffs(33nrr)out last night with plugs in as well. Had to raise everything so as not to push the muffs off, as they are so thick. Friend said the big muffs looked odd, but if it works, who cares.

Started out with the can on the .308 and all was well. Removed the can, still gtg. Removed just the plugs, had to reinstall after one shot.

Dragged the 300 out, not "Too" bad, but the brake is going to have to go, then again w/o a roof over head, who knows? Went to the 11.5", M16a1 and ran a 30rd mag on full. Not as bad as I would have thought, so in a crowd of un-braked .308's I should be good for one relay anyway. This is a major improvement over last year, but the ringing is still there.

Looking forward to seeing everyone in Feb.
Can we have Montana winter weather the first shoot, if Bill could seat Ronald right next to me, there will be no excuses that will fly,....if it's above +30*f split us up.

Re: Hardrock Match Schedule for 2011

As a reminder for all you hard rockers we offer a data collection page that works for your match. Great way to keep track of your shooting and also your scores from each match you shoot.

You can build a nice modular book and add as many sets of these as your options to give you a rocking book.

Hoping maybe I can sneak down this year and make one!!

Happy shooting!!

Re: Hardrock Match Schedule for 2011

GF,

Glad to hear you've been able to work on a solution. If we have Montana weather, very few will make it through the snow. Of course, the ATB will get as far down the road as it can.

Thanks for the good news,
DocB

Re: Hardrock Match Schedule for 2011

Alan,

Been trying everything I could think of sense, June. I hope it works long term. First shoot may hurt, don't know, but that's the chance I'll take. While not ideal better than not being able to shoot at all. Which until you can't, is different.

NOMAD,

Let me know when your coming, would enjoy meeting you.

Re: Hardrock Match Schedule for 2011

Shot the 300 w/o the brake,(50rds) ears GTG with plugs an muffs. Going to be shooting with a crowd of sticks tomorrow and see what happens, fingers crossed.

Re: Hardrock Match Schedule for 2011

Went, so, so.
Not as good as I had hoped, but not all that bad either. Brake's are 200% out though, way back not bad, but on the bench beside one is a bitch, even with double hearing protection.
All Cans are great. Still have to wear the muffs on the line even then, but happy to pay that price.

These muffs are so large I've had to re-adjust my shooting setup a little.

Every once in awhile if the muffs touch the stock (300wm)at touch off, I hear what sounds like a M16 buffer spring. Wondering if it's the BDL mag box? The .308 with the HS mags makes no sound at all. Anyone ever hear this in theirs? If so what did you find?

Re: Hardrock Match Schedule for 2011

Gf,

Maybe the without the brake the recoil will knock your ears back into correct function... If not, well; at least getting on the line is good. Perhaps it's time for the smaller calibers.

I don't wear ear muffs any more, so I don't know what the noise could be. Light firing pin spring bouncing around in the bolt? Barrel vibrations dampening out? I've heard solidly mounted barrels/receivers make a ringing noise when whacked, which is why I use wood stocks if I can.

On another note, all PM requests for schedules have been sent.

Have fun,
DocB

Re: Hardrock Match Schedule for 2011

The 300 recoil is nothing but a shove, the spring thing is odd though. Never had that with any bolt gun before. I've a mag system coming for the 300, so I'll wait until I install it before going farther. It's shooting good and I don't want to rock that boat until after the first match,... then again if it gets here in time I could add that to the list of Hard Rock excuses.

Re: Hardrock Match Schedule for 2011

Hope your doing better as well. My last Chemo was first of Nov. last year so the bulk of mine should be 100% gone, by the first match. Seems a few of us have had it, this last year or so.

Re: Hardrock Match Schedule for 2011

Don't know, hopefully Bill or someone can tell us. If their like the ones around here, I'd not hold my breath.

Then again there are folks down there that would indicate the if's an were as's, if it took to long.

Re: Hardrock Match Schedule for 2011

Yep, but I'll miss the Banjo's.

Found the spring sound, was the Harris bipod springs, placed rubber between them and where they hook on, it stopped.

Re: Hardrock Match Schedule for 2011

Good day,

Glad to hear the bridge is up.

If you are going to pre-register, please send an email or PM. Those are the only ways I use to track registrations. You can use either email address from the schedule announcement, the Yahoo one is best.

Thanks,
DocB

Re: Hardrock Match Schedule for 2011

Doc,

Could you PM me the match info.... Looks like my school shedule this semester will allow it...

Work is easing off due to being in charge of State Accreditation... So I would LOVE to make it.

Thanks
Matt (LEO SOUTH GA.)

Re: Hardrock Match Schedule for 2011

Good grief. After not being able to make a match last year, anywhere, it looks as if I might be able to make at least the first one of the year (Feb?).

On the other hand, I'll have a new .223, a new .308 (hopefully, it's getting a barrel), and the old standby 6.5 on hand. Guess I'll have to make practice day to get a little dope for the two new rifles. And hope the .223 really will hit 1,000 with some sort of accuracy, another work in progress.

As usual, I have a plan....

That's MR. Huskey to you Gump. The jury is out on the water pipes, the water is still cut off.
