Harris Bipod questions.. Annoyed with options..

I have no idea what I need. Looks like a bunch of different option and adapters and models and I have no idea what I need.. :(
I'm getting a Savage Mark II FV-SR with a Boyds Tacticool stock. I will be target shooting for accuracy 100% of the time with a 14x power scope from 25 to 200 yards. I would like to be able to move side to side and up and down, but looking at the website, if I want to go side to side I have to get a expensive adapter? I also noticed notched legs?.
I think I will need the 6" to 9" model, but other then that, I have no idea what I'm suppose to get with all the options I see on the website
I do know that I want a good Bipod so I want to get a Harris so I don't wish I did later and I don't want to spend more then $100 bucks.
Any help would be greatly appreciated

Order the BRMS. That is swivel and notched legs. Try it just as it comes for a bit. If you need it to pan right-left you can add that. I am not really sure you will find it necessary once you work with a bipod for a bit. The one thing I always add to any Harris is the KMW Pod-loc. With the pan adaptor and a pod-loc you are close enough to the cost of an Atlas that maybe you should just go there instead. I say maybe because I am a steadfast Harris user. My rifles have rested on them for at least the last 25 years.

I've got a Harris 6-9" non-swivel, non-notched legs on my Savage MKii FV-SR. (I forget the exact model.) I bought it before I knew exactly which model to get and I didn't want to spend a whole lot. (Sound familiar?) It works fine, but if I had to do it over again, I'd get the 6-9" BRMS.

Get the BRM-S with a pod-loc. I've tried the knockoffs (caldwell, blackhawk, etc.), the BRM (non-swivel), and BRM-S without the pod-loc. By FAR the best combination was the BRM-S with pod-loc.

Triad can get you one shipped out asap. Great customer service and follow up too. Definitely one of the go to vendors on here.

Dittos on what was said above, BRMS 6-9, POD LOC, Triad Tactical has it all..

Triad is my source for Harris Bipods, lowest price around and awesome service. The 6"-9" BRMS will handle 90% of all shooting needs, 9"-13" will handle the rest albeit a bit heavier and bigger. If you're shooting only on groomed ranges the smaller is the way to go, field shooting the 9"-13" sure comes in handy when the grass gets high or the terrain doesn't want to cooperate!

I agree. I forgot the model, BDRM or BRMS sounds right. I may have the BDRM, it doesn't traverse but it does cant. The notched legs are much nicer than the smoother ones IMO, regardless of model. The 6-9" is good for most stuff, but sometimes I really wish I'd bought the short one. That's for you to decide.

I've never needed any swivel on mine, the rifle either traverses a bit through torque and flex in the legs and system, or else I rock the rifle and adjust it a bit. I never use a swivel on a bipod, I prefer it to lock up tight, even the cant.

A Harris is a great bipod for most applications, but they do make a lot of different models and it can be confusing. But you'll be satisfied with the BDRM or BRMS (whichever has the notched legs which should narrow down your choices some). I have three I think, and one with smooth legs. The smooth legs can be adjusted more precisely but it takes a bit more time to set it up and personally, I think they're a pain in the ass to use --I keep mine permanently fixed for this reason, which kinda sucks sometimes.

Keep an eye out for deals because I've seen these things go for everything from $60 to $100+ for the same model.

Oh, Harris is REALLY good about fixing broken and damaged bipods. I broke one myself, one that was ten years old and abused in the military, and I damaged it taking it apart trying to fix it. Sent 'em a box of parts, some missing and some damaged, all painted up with five layers of paint... I offered to pay to unfuck it, but they did it for free. I didn't get it back for months, turned out I forgot to give them a return address! But they had it fixed in a week or so they said, and I got it in a few days after giving them my address. Great folks to deal with, as are most quality firearms parts manufacturers and dealers.

Harris BRMS 6-9 user here.

The swivel is a must-have, and the notched legs save you a lot of time and hassle.

I have a 9-13 version in the same format, and honestly I find the 6-9 of more use (at least at the range anyway). 9" gets me where I want to go and is more than enough it seems. Being able to get down to 6" is great, and a limiter if you have the 9-13.
