Has any one shortened the Surgeon Rifles Tactical bolt knob?

I bought the Surgeon rifles tactical bolt knob, and really like the design and grip, but not how much length it adds to the bolt handle. Has anyone cut it down and deepened the threads on it? If you have, can you post up some pics?

Thanks,
Austin

P.S. for the "use the search" trolls, I already did and didn't find what I was looking for.

put it on a lathe and shorten it, you may want to refinish it, and i mean cut the bolt knob down. If your looking for to shorten the part that goes into the threaded part then you have to make a whole new one (or you might as well) or just find one thats capatible with your bolt.

Your gonna have a bright future here with dumbass comments like that.

I'm getting ready to try one myself (Surgeon Tactical knob on a 700 handle). My plan is to just thread the handle further up than "normal"
Worst case I'll get a new handle welded on if I end up hating it. With the Surgeon Tactical at least, the knob's threaded shank can go basically up to where the bend is in the rem handle and it should work out nicely.

Cut same knob down right where taper begins(with hacksaw) then cleaned up taper with a dremel. This is on a stiller and worked out perfectly. Had to tap a few extra threads inside knob. All in all about 15min.

I threaded my own 700 bolt handle. I used a Surgeon bolt knob from Brownells. When I received the knob I thought it was too long so I cut the neck off it and screwed it on. It worked great, and there is enough threaded portion to provide ample strength. You may have to cut some threads off of your handle, but I think you'll be fine.
