Gunsmithing has anybody used Chad Dixions pillars?

Re: has anybody used Chad Dixions pillars?

Punch the holes to 17/32".

Measure the OD of your receiver. Say its 1.350". Half is .675"

The following makes the assumption you don't have a mill. If you do then you can actually machine a square pocket in your stock. (how these things were originally intended, but it doesn't actually make much difference)

When you get the pillars (if you don't already have them) get a 3/4" spade and punch a bore down to 1.0" below the show line of the stock. Mock up a pillar on the action first to verify the distance. It should be in the vicinity of .325" from the bottom of the register to the center tangent on the rib that contacts the action.

.675 and .325 is one inch. With the pillar sitting on the register your action should be exactly half in/half out of the stock and parallel to the showline edge.

If your working with a flat bottom then just do the math over again and adjust accordingly. It should be spot on though as I make these "receiver specific."

If you have additional questions, fire away. Be glad to help.

Measure twice, cut once!

Re: has anybody used Chad Dixions pillars?

Thanks Chad. I spent a couple hours on a mill today and cut most of my inleting. If I was better I would have cut it all the way, I left everything a little short so I could hand file it the rest of the way. Ill give you a call To order a set . I am doing a LA rem m700 into an A4...thanks for the info

Re: has anybody used Chad Dixions pillars?

Where else can you get this kind of info and service from a manufacturer?

I had a similar experience earlier with a custom scope base question.

Awesome, just Awesome...
