I had an old set of skins I tried this on and the plastic it's made of is more of a rubber type compound and you can't really stipple it. Polymer works great because it is harder. So I would say don't even try it, if you need some grip use some grip tape from 3m. It works better than any stippling as far as grip goes, and you don't have to alter the skins. Yeah you may have to replace it every once in a while but it will serve its purpose
