Rifle Scopes has anyone tried a optical booster

Re: has anyone tried a optical booster

I seen it in my predator hunting magazine last night. I am also curious about it. Seems like it is just another gimmick. Another lens to look through and to lower the light transmission.

I sure would like to turn my 24 power scope into a 32 power though!

I had one on a Leupold competition scope. It worked ok,but on a high fixed power scope, the mirage would get worse from one relay to the next and I would remove it.You have to readjust the focus, not a big deal, but at a fast moving match,it is something else to do.The Davis that I had was a quality piece, but I probably would not do it again.Hope this helps, Pete

If you have the time to refocus,it will help under some conditions.I finally traded up to a high power varable power scope.Under good conditions I shoot on the highest power and turn it down when the heat and mirage get bad.The booster is a little over a hundred bucks, and you can probably sell a used one for $60 to $75,later if you don't like it,so you have a minimum loss if you don't like it.
