I'm having two rifles built:

.17 FB
-REM 700 Action
-McMillan MTN Rhino Artic camo stock
-Lilja MTN rifle contour 1-9 twist
-Jewell trigger

.260
-Stiller Predator action DBM
-McMillan Hunter edge olive stock
-Lilja #2 contour 1-8 twist
-Jewell trigger

My question is, what barrel length would you choose? I'm thinking 22" for both.

Looks like the 260 is for hunting? If so, then 22" should be fine, you could even go a bit shorter. I have a 20" that shoots 139 Scenars @ 2680 and I wish I'd left a bit more barrel on it but only for competition beyond 1000. For hunting inside 500 it wouldn't make any difference at all.

It all depends upon the intended uses. I prefer a little longer tube, but that is just me, I liek a little extra velocity. As previously said, if you are going long distance, you may want a 24" tube, which will still maintain plenty of velocity, but not be so long to be cumbersome while hunting. Remember, once you cut it off, it doesn't grow back.

Yes, the 260 will be for hunting. They will both be carry guns. I'm not one to shoot very far, 200 yds is long range in my book. I don't think I have shot anything further than 200 yards. Thanks for you opinions, I appreciate it.
