Wondering if anybody has had their hands on a hawke sidewinder 6.5-20 or just the scope in general to get a little feed back on it like clarity, clicks, etc any info would be great thanks guys
While I do recommend doing some searching, I also believe that it is OK to help out where I can. There is more and more information out there for the taking, just put the keys to it and do some reading.
Here is a link to one good review for ya to check out. Enjoy!!
I have one and have been putting some time in behind it...I will say I am still impressed by the clarity and it gives up very little to my NXS. After spends several hours behind it I have no complaints to offer on the clarity. Personally I really like the scope and it has proven to track well and overall does everything well. If I were to be critical it would be in the following areas:
1) while the locking turrets are a nice concept the reality is not as good. There is NO way for the user to have a reference to where they are on the dial. If you are needing multiple turns of adjustment you damn well better remember where you are because there is NO way for you to look at the scope turret and see any usable info. The addition of a zero stop is a needed feature to make the locking turrets a much better feature.
2) the parallax focus works flawless BUT if you are not using the ugly huge wheel then making adjustments is not as easy as any other side focus scope I have used. This problem stems from the fact that the side focus shares use with the illuminated reticle. The outside half of the knob is used to control the illumination and the inside half is used for the parallax. Use of gloves would make it almost unusable.
3) lastly is an issue related to price and personal preference more than anything else. I prefer a FFP mil/mil scope but you cant have everything lol. Here you are dealing with a mil reticle (very nice one I will add) with moa adjustments on a SFP scope.
In closing if you are looking for a economical scope that has very good clarity and does do an all around good job it is a option worth looking at.
I just picked up one with the group buy from Ceylon at Deltaoutdoorsman. So far so good. The clicks are distinct but a little on the light detent side. Optics are comparable to my Leupold Vari-X III's. Very sight distortion at the very outer edge of the lens. The ret. is great for target and daytime varminting. Is a great ret. for using the mil dot (hash marks) for ranging distance if your laser rangefinder goes tits up. It tracks good as far as I can tell during sight in. I have not done a box test yet but when I tell it t move 1 MOA it moves 1 MOA.
I was looking through their x10 scope the other day and was very impressed for the price.
Its really a shame they don't offer a Mil/Mil version..What is even more annoying is that the offer another of their scopes with "metric turrets" (their words not mine), but even these variables are still SFP and there is no fixed power version of this scope.
