Hawkins vs KMW DBM

Other than price, any significant difference between the two? Looking to build a rifle inside a Foundation Stock (MG2).

Thanks!

Both are functionally good to go.

Technically the KMW Mk1 , SENTINEL and Surgeon DBMs are more robust parts because their inlet is larger than the M5.
This may be of little significance to most since most but not all of the thinner walls of an M5 style inlet are protected within the stock.

Why a cost difference?
The KMW design chose to include a good bit more chamfering and sculpting. More chamfers = less sharp edges against your hands in and outside the trigger guard. The increased wall thickness of the KMW hardware also allows a good bit more "flare" to the entrance of the magazine well.

In addition to pillars of the correct length, HoloKrome stock bolts cut the exact length needed are included.
When a DBM is installed correctly, the stock bolt lengths will always be a fixed dimension. Providing the stock bolts pre-cut does away with another sometimes tedious job usually required after purchase.

Choosing to go with this design and these features means more machine time and higher cost. That decision was made on purpose to offer the best evolution of DBM that I could.

Both will give you excellent service.
Excellent choice on the Foundation btw....

Be safe and stay healthy.

Thanks Terry. That makes the decision easier. I will go with the KMW, inside a Foundation Genesis...?

I’ve had both. The KMW is top notch and the Hawkins works well too, but fact of the matter is you won’t go wrong with either.

I find the mag release on the KMW to be slightly easier to manipulate - that’s why I kept it over the Hawkins.

I would take the KMW over the Hawkins. More refined machining (the soften edges Terry is talking about) as well as the design component of the slotted trigger guard for the ability to adjust your trigger without having to take your barreled action out of your stock/chassis.

I am going to purchase an AG Composites stock. The only DBM bottom metal inlet geometries are Badger M5 and Hawkins M5. I would prefer to have the KMW Mk1 Gen2 but I presume from the discussion some additional inletting would be required with either the Badger or Hawkins inlet.

Thanks for any intel. Rick

Sorry to bring up a old thread, but Niteqwill did you end up going with the KMW? I googled this exact question for this exact stock... so i would like to know what you ended up with and are you happy one way or the other. Thank you.

I went with all Hawkins. It's impossible to find a KMW bottom metal. I've been happy with my Hawkins on 3 of my rifle builds.
