Head spacing for AR

I need input from AR10/LR-308 guys about how you are doing it.
If you bump more or less than you would a bolt action. Or how much do you like to bump your shoulders for .308.

I just got the Hornady lock-n-load headspace gauge.

For reliable feeding you should bump at least .003-.004.

+1 on what Cansniper said .003-.005 is all you need to bump the shoulders back & you are good.

Small Base FL die will suitable for semi-auto

Just for clarification here, when you speak about "bumping shoulders," you <span style="text-decoration: underline">are</span> Full Length sizing, correct?

I am with a Forster FL. I have their "Ultra" die set. The sizing die is not small base though.

I'd recommend the S/B for an AR, but my main concern here was to make sure you were doing at least a F/L sizing. Still see guys trying to Neck Size for Gas Guns, and am always trying to discourage that practice. Nothing but trouble down that road, I assure you.

Forster's are great dies, about equal to Reddings and a whole lot less expensive. You should be off to a good start here. Give a shout if ther's anything else we can do. Always glad to help.

On my gas guns, I bump the shoulders back .004 using regular dies. The only times I've ever had the need for small based dies is when using once fired mil-surp brass fired out of full auto guns.

Thanks for the clarification KT! Your expertise is very valued here.
Always FL or SB on a semi, however I personally do size all the way down to minimum.
