Headspace, resizing brass

I am reloading 6mm Creedmoor. Full length sizing. I have read shoulder bump from fired brass should be .003-.004 However, I am also told that .004 is in the range of a no-go gauge.
Questions: What is the optimal shoulder bump to maximize accuracy and RELIABILITY in a field environment?
Also, can a "sloppy", say bumped .005-.006 piece of sized brass effect accuracy?

I want to say thanks in advance, there is so much knowledge within our members. It's nice to be able to ask questions and get straight answers.

.002-003 is the typical standard. My dasher brass is bumped .003 +/- .0005

Some go .001-.002 but I agree that .004 is a bit much and not needed. You are just over working the brass at that point

I go for .001-.002 in bolt guns.
.004 is ok but is kinda over working brass.
In a hunting only rifle I’d be totally happy with .004.

Usually I set the shoulder back about .001 or .002"

I've been doing 0.002 on my 6.5cm, and 0.003 on my AR (.223). So far so good
