Not sure if this should be posted here or in gunsmithing. Just got a form 1 approved for a .300 blk bolt action sbr build. I think that my only options for stocks is the mdt lss chassis or a manners eh4. Can anyone tell me whether a rem700 with a 9" barrel will work in either? The barrel is threaded back .625", so i need a stock that will allow a suppressor to make up without the stock interfering.

Thanks in advance,

Shane

I hate to be "that guy", but the only thing I really know to do in this situation is to contact the stock/chassis manufacturers for forearm measurements forward of the recoil lug...

At least mdt has some basic specs [IMG2=JSON]{"data-align":"none","data-size":"full","src":"https:\/\/i.imgur.com\/A3gSese.jpg"}[/IMG2]

The recoil lug is at the top of the magwell sweep which means you have something pretty close to the 8" [IMG2=JSON]{"data-align":"none","data-size":"full","height":"299","width":"449","src":"https:\/\/magento-modulardriventec.netdna-ssl.com\/media\/catalog\/product\/cache\/1\/image\/1000x\/040ec09b1e35df139433887a97daa66f\/l\/s\/lss-homepage-images_1.jpg"}[/IMG2]

now the question is how proud does the barrel sit above the forearm.

Found some pics

This is at 5" according to the article and each change in color should be in 1" increments [IMG2=JSON]{"data-align":"none","data-size":"full","height":"523","width":"783","src":"http:\/\/rifleshooter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/11\/5-inch-barrel-223-bolt-action-pistol-1024x684.jpg"}[/IMG2]

9" should be the end of the 3rd tan ring not including the chamber.

The manners EH 4 is 29 over all (A) minues 14.1 (B) leaves us 14.9" from trigger forward.
[IMG2=JSON]{"data-align":"none","data-size":"full","src":"http:\/\/mannersstocks.com\/media\/wysiwyg\/layout\/pages\/stock-specs.jpg"}[/IMG2]

A rem 700 short action is (according to some spec I found online) 7.9" long and the trigger starts 1.030 from the end of the tang. 7.9-1.030 gives us 6.87 of action ~in front of the reference line from manners. 14.9-6.87=8.03" That takes some liberties in where the trigger actually is in relation to the rear of the tang etc but it looks like it too will be close.

I would call each of the repective manufactures and see if they could give you a measurement from the front action screw or the rear of the recoil lug pocket. Worse case scenario you could chop saw the mdt lss off one hole back for plenty of room or relieve/sand out the manners to make it fit.

I have already spoken to both manners and mdt. They both seem to think they will work. I was hoping somebody may have already done a similar build given that both of the stocks have such a short forearm. Thought I would try to gain more insight before dropping the cash on either. I do agree that the mdt would be a lot easier to shorten if need be. Thanks for the input everybody. I will definitely post pictures once finished.
