Help deciding!

Alright; so I'm planning to put together a new rifle, and have an old rifle worked on. My 10 year old 700 is ready for a makeover, and my RPR is getting to the point where it needs rebarreled (3200 rounds on it). My Rifles are used as range/prs guns. So here is the dilemma, I want to put together and trainer, and a competition rifle. I can't decide whether to get both 700's up and running the way I want them, going the custom route, or rebarreling the RPR, and buying the 5.56 version as a trainer. Obviously the cheaper route is to go with the RPRs, but would I be giving anything up by doing so?

If it's for training...
Train how you fight.
Your trainer should be as close to you primary weapon as possible.

I'd rather not burn through a barrel every few months. The trainer is more for practice, and saving the 6.5 barrel.

Either way the rifles would be basically the same, I just need a little help deciding what direction to go.
