Ugh you need a lot of software, there are a lot of steps involved. First off, mp3 is not teh format you want. Mac screwed their users pretty good when it came to digital rights management; you need AAC audio to play on an ipod/mac and h.264 to play video, so you are going to have to convert your DVD audio/video to .mp4 or .mov, and before you can do that you need to decrypt the dvd as it is encoded with CSS. So you need a program that will take your dvd and decode it, dump the raw data on your computer, then a second program to take that data and re-encode it in h.264, and the only program I know of that does that type of work won't convert to said format, you need to first convert to .avi/.mp3 in DivX or similar codec, then convert that to an Apple friendly format like .mov or .mp4; visit www.doom9.org and do some reading, downloading, trial and error. No free lunches here,

Actually Magic DVD Ripper does all those steps with one click of the mouse.... However im not sure if it runs on Macs as I use it on Windows. After ripping with Magic, its as simple as droping it onto iTunes and syncing it with my touch, iphone, or nano... ymmv

If you have a good fast Internet connection simply install a bit torrent client, head over to well-known torrent index site, find what you want, and download the movies, tv shows, etc.
I had almost forgotten what a DVD was.

Tucker,

Aren't most of those sites down now? They closed Pirate's Bay and Kickass Torrents a while ago. What is left?

They come and go. Last I checked TPB was up. there are also some proxies to them that work when the main site is down.
There's a browser that's geared towards digital media as well. I saw it the other night, but didn't spend much time on its features. I believe it had built in torrent search and client.
