As part of a collection I had bought there are several hundred rounds that I’m struggling to Id. The bottom stamps seem military to me but unsure. Bullet size is .258, case has same size and shape as 308 but about 1/4” longer.

I think You guys are right, I just sat one next to a green and yellow box Remington 25-06 and they look the same. I am guessing they are just reworked 30-06 brass then as the headstamps seem military?

Those look to be military 30-06 cases necked down or formed into something else. As an amateur cartridge collector I have had to measure lots of cartridges in order to ID them. A google search should lead you to a few websites that list dimensions. Make a few measurements and start going down the list. Foreign metric cartridges have been the hardest for me to ID followed by wildcat cartridges. There are also a few websites that will help with headstamp identification.
