Hello, I was advised to bring my question to this forum.

I have what appears to be some type of M98 or derivative of some type.
It's a 270 win.
Ammo seats correctly in the internal magazine. I've only fired about 15 rounds through it. But accuracy and function were great. Just trying to figure out more about It's origin and information people may know about it.
I was thinking It's a sporterized Kimber, but the Mark II safety (as I was told) is a brownells thing. What are your thoughts?

Looks like Herb went nuts with a buffing wheel on what I presume was a VZ24.

Aftermarket stock, barrel, scope mounts, safety, etc... I think it's safe to call this an amateur sporterization.

There was/is a crest on top of the receiver under the scope mounts but judging by the side of the receiver it's probably been buffed away.

I concur with @Ledzep. Looks to me like Herb (whoever he was) went to town on a Czech vz. 24, turned it from a large-ring to a nearly-small-ring and erased the markings with a buffer, and haphazardly put the "CESKOSLOVENSKA" back on with an electropencil. Like Ledzep says, any Czech crest under the front scope mount is probably buffed off too.

The safety is an aftermarket commercial product designed for better leverage and manipulation versus the original safety, and to allow the safety to be operated with the eyepiece of a scope in the way of your fingers. The bolt handle and some other parts might be replacements too, since the vz. 24 had a horizontal bolt handle.

Thank you guys for the feedback.
Glad I was able to somewhere figure out what this rifle is/was
