I sold one of my bolt guns and I want to try out the 6.5 Grendel. I am kind of a newbie to the AR platform. , But I understand I could save some money if I put it together myself.Unless I can find a great deal on a assembled complete, I think this is the way to go. I don’t need anything flashy. A simple Slimline flat top with bipod capabilities and 20-24 inch barrel. I don’t shoot three gun, I don’t shoot competitions, I don’t even hunt big game. This would be a range toy, prairie dog/coyote gun. I have $500 budget, want to save the other thousand dollars for the scope.

what I am getting at is I would like to know the best value priced Barrel and BCG I could get. Just to know my background, I would like something under rated yet very capable like SWFA scopes or a simple Trued 700 action. I don’t do flashy, I don’t need name brand if it is capable. I would just like to be pointed in the right direction for parts because I am new to the platform.

yes I searched, yes I read. But this is a forum and I like the interaction. If this bothers you go whine to Frank about how the Internet guy is mean. Idgaf.

    thanks. Bender

Thanks! I will have to go search for hand guards.

One more question, I will shoot it Suppressed 99% of the time. It’s a .30cal can, do I need s AGB? Or just Taylor my loads to a non adjustable block?

Get the adjustable gas block. SLR is a good one along with Superlative Arms. I shoot suppressed most of the time it is a Spec War other times it's an OMEGA 30. The adjustable gas block just makes the gun run smoother in my opinion. I also have a Seekins adjustable gas block works great just harder to adjust with a hand guard on. The other two adjust from the front. The recoil impulse is smoother. Not that a 223 or 6.5 are heavy recoil rounds. I just purchased a 6.5 Grendel Faxon barrel through Brownells on sale with free shipping for $200 however it does not include the bolt like the Wilson.

I have an SLR AGB on mine and I shoot it 100% suppressed with a JP SCS Heavy also. Have the AGB tuned perfectly. If money is a concern, just grab a Seekins AGB for around $50. They work great.

OK, time to sound like a complete retard, I clicked on that link for the barrel and bolt together, it says it doesn’t have the carrier assembly? What is that. Is it just the bolt face and I need to assemble my own bolt carrier group?

Do you have any AR's??? The bolt and the bolt carrier are 2 different pieces put together with a cam pin, firing pin an cotter pin.... 6.5 Grendel uses a different bolt face than .223. So you buy the Toolcraft BCG linked above, remove the 223 bolt from the carrier and install the 6.5 Grendel bolt back into the Toolcraft carrier that came with the barrel. Done.

Yes, I bought one and threw it in the safe and forgot about it. I knew it’s a different bolt face, I was just confused if the barrel came with a complete BCG. Apparently it does not, hence your link you provided to the inexpensive .223 BCG.

    im not retarded

    im just slow....lol

    thx.
