Over the last year or so we have started to have a real hog problem on our deer lease. I would like to get a handy AR that I can keep in the Mule with me that I can access quickly when needed. I have a heavy barrel varmint style AR already. I would like something lightweight, but still posses decent accuracy. I was thinking of having some sort of holographic or low power scope on top for quick target acquisition. I would like to stick with 5.56, so that I can also just have some fun with it. Do you guys have any suggestions on manufacturers and models? I was looking at the Daniel Defense V11 LW and Bravo Company RECCE-16 KMR-A. At this point I don't have much interest in piecing something together, so a complete rifle would be optimal. I am willing to spend up to 2K for the rifle itself if needed. Thanks in advance for the help.

I have a JP 6.5 Creedmoor. I love the rifle even though I can't shoot it worth a darn. I never seem to hear about the JP from a duty rifle perspective. Any experience with their duty rifle?
Oh ok. You already got the perfect hog AR lol Have you tried replacing the JP trigger?
But back to your post, I never liked shooting pigs with the 223. Though they are pigs, I'm about good shots that puts the animal down quickly. The gendel is low recoiling and much more effective than a 223 will be.
You are right you dont hear much about JP from a duty perspective. I own 4 complete JP's and none of them are set up for tactical/defense. I own a couple Wilson Combat's for defense but I wouldnt be afraid of carrying a JP.

I do a lot of riding around and shooting hogs. I would strongly recommend a 6.8 SPC or a 6.5 Grendel. Probably Grendel if you are they type that wants cheap ammo.
Slap a 1-4 variable on top with a clear simple reticle, and ride around with it on 1x. Nice to have a little more magnification if one steps out a little further out.

I say that I can't shoot the JP, but it's just that I am
not as consistent with an auto loader just yet. I will shoot a super tight group and then follow it up with crap. The problem with the JP is you don't really want to lug that thing around or shoot it off hand. Thanks again for the suggestions so far.
