Help me pick a rail for my LR308.

Finally got my JD Machine LR-308 matching receiver set. DPMS pattern


I've been looking into getting a DD Omega 12.0 for my rail system, only thing is I read that the 7.62 rails are in the "Lite" rail which supposedly will not run flush with my JD low receiver rail. I really want my rails to be flush with one another.


Also, I know I need to purchase a barrel nut is there a specific one or is one included with the Omega 12.0 system? I had one of these Omega 6.0's on my 5.56 AR and loved it. I figured since I'm so familiar with AR's the 308 would be a cinch, nope this is like a whole new gun in the way these parts go.


Also I'm not sure if I want to go hidden gas block or railed gas block, if there is a issue with going DD rail with either of those options.

Check Daniel Defense's website. You might have to take a measurement of you receiver to make sure it will mount flush. I know they make 2 different size rails for the Troy AR-10 rails.

I've had a bunch of different rails for 5.56 / 308 gas guns (AR configuration) My 308 DPMS had the factory rail....heavy bugger, but 100% functional.

My general opinion is people spend way too much for rails. As long as its tight and solid, its good to go.

Daniel Defense makes great stuff, but its not like a tight DD rail is gonna make the gun any more functional than a tight no-name rail. Invest your hard earned cash elsewhere, on something that will actually functionally enhance the rifle.

Who else makes a standard quad rail. I don't like the design and sharp cuts of the Troy and some others DD has a clean look reason I prefer them. Anyone else make a cheaper we'll built rail that looks like the KAC/DD rail systems?

This LR project is my beauty piece that's going to out up groups to back it up. I just have a M110 type look in kind and am trying to get close to that with my own tiny little spin on it.

I already have 2 700s that were built with accuracy before looks this one is ganna be like pride and joy with both look and performance in mind

So I'm open to rail suggestions.

Didnt even think about midaway. That Troy rail is looking pretty tempting for $219.
