Help me pick between 2 Geissele triggers

Ok - I've read many threads on the site about AR triggers and Geissele's in particular, but still haven't found a clean answer. I'm replacing the trigger in a Noveske 300 Blkout SBR (10"). The main use of the rifle is hog hunting. I run into two main scenarios... 1) 50-75 yard fast moving off-hand shots and 2) 100-150 yard stationary targets shot from a rest (blind). I dabble with sub-sonics so shot placement is critical.

I think I've narrowed it down to a couple of triggers...
1) Super Dynamic Trigger Enhanced
2)Geissele Super Dynamic Trigger 3-Gun

I'm leaning towards he 3-gun because of the quicker reset, but just not sure how it will work on "longer" shots.

Thoughts?

Re: Help me pick between 2 Geissele triggers

I have never tested the SD-E, but I have tested a 3-Gun trigger. It is a very unique feeling trigger. I believe it is a two stage trigger single stage, but you can't feel a ledge before the hammer drops.

Re: Help me pick between 2 Geissele triggers

The three gun is more of a short pull, short reset version of the SD-E. For a hunting gun, I'd probably go with the SD-E based on this difference (unless you anticipate shooting a lot of hogs in quick succession or some such thing).

Re: Help me pick between 2 Geissele triggers

The SD-3G is not technically a single or two stage trigger, but rather a "hybrid" or "rolling" type trigger. The trigger pull has perceptible movement with no change on weight during the movement. It's like sliding a frosty glass mug over a glass table top with your eyes closed. You can feel it’s moving, but you can’t feel it going over the edge.

SD-E is a two stage trigger, has a super crisp break, extremely predictable staging, and ultimately is built for hard use with a non adjust design.

I own both of the triggers in question, and currently have them in various builds of mine. It sounds like you would be better served with the SD-E, or SD-C trigger over the SD-3G.

I've shot groups @ 100yds, and some limited LR (400-600yd) shooting with the SD-3G and it works just fine for precision shots, however it's not nearly as good at that task as the SD-E is. The biggest difference in this respect b/t the two is that with the SD-3G, you can't "set up" your trigger break with the first stage/second stage wall like you can with the SD-E. There really is no going back once you initiate the trigger pull on the SD-3G....whereas you can on a two stage trigger.

Hope that helps....both are world class triggers.

Re: Help me pick between 2 Geissele triggers

I would go with option 1 , you can pull on the 1rst stage and if the target moves you can stay in that sweet spot where it transitions from 1rst to 2nd then click ! when you you have your target back on. have not tried the SD-E but the SSA-E is a sweet trigger with a heavy enough 2nd stage but not too heavy.

Re: Help me pick between 2 Geissele triggers

I had an SSA-E on an OBR. It was very nice, but I went to a SD-E and it is perfection for my needs (two-stage, predictable, very crisp, and non-adjustable). The flat trigger blade is nice. At first I thought it would feel odd, but it is great. Great company also.

Re: Help me pick between 2 Geissele triggers

I have 2 dynamic 3 gun triggers and they will bump fire on precise shots (very short reset)
And will stop your string of fire. (Doubles and then a light primer strike)

Works great for run and gun 3 gun I would not get it for long range work

Its a two stage with the second stage removed. Kind of a hybrid. It does not break like a glass rod but it is smooth and fast. I have owned nearly all the Geissele's made and its my favorate.

If you're bumpfiring with a SD3G on precision shots... You my friend, are a limp wristed pussy, whos finger should never be allowed within a trigger guard!

Re: Help me pick between 2 Geissele triggers

The only way I could get my carbine to bumpfire with the SD3G installed; Was to hold onto my RVG with one hand (suspending the entire rifle in the air), then stick my pointer finger on the trigger and then pull back on the trigger... even then it only popped off 2 rounds (and you'd have to be retarded to do that accidently!)

Plus on a precision shot you should be following through and holding the trigger back until the recoil Pulse is over.

I run the sd-e on my hog gun. It works great and it's good at the ranger when I'm testing my loads.

My 3 gun AR's are around 6 1/2 lbs and resting on a bag for long range shots they double (bump fire) the shorter the reset the easier it is to bump fire, that's all there is too it. It does not happen every time, but maybe once a mag. If you have a 9-11lb AR then this more than likely will not happen, it is a common problem with the sd3g, I compete in 3, 3 gun matches a month and my times (splits) have improved with this trigger, it has never malfunctioned during a match.

It is a great trigger ( I own two) If you have never shot a " race" trigger and you install the sd3g you will think god himself made it...it is great...but 3 gun competitors have been running custom triggers like this for 10 years

I shoot a lot, 3000 rounds of pistol, 500 round of 12ga, 3000 rounds of 223/300 BLK a month at practice and matches, the odds are that I will see malfunctions more so than the average range guy.

I don't see myself as limp wristing ( I'm 6'4" 220lbs)...but I maybe a pussy

Re: Help me pick between 2 Geissele triggers

Ok - so much great information. Too much maybe. I still couldn't decide so I ended up buying both (this is an expensive addiction!). I'm going to put the SD-Enhanced in the 300 Blkout and try the SD-3 Gun in a dedicated 9mm SBR.

Re: Help me pick between 2 Geissele triggers

I had the same Idea.
SSA and Super3G.
Put em on the range this week,
The Super3G is trigger is Light, but had my best groups. @ a 100 yards Suppressed and Un suppressed.
Nothing wrong with the SSA, just not as quick.

both Clean breaks.
I'll prolley keep the Super 3G for my next builds.
I like the light pull, I might change my mind with gloves in colder weather.? Time will tell

Wow, thank you that is awesome. I ordered the SSA-E thanks to your video, I was baffled at which to get.

Re: Help me pick between 2 Geissele triggers

I installed the trigger last night (the SSA) wow that is a huge improvement. Now I feel like all of my AR's triggers are garbage.

I found this video of their's very helpful in the process.

Re: Help me pick between 2 Geissele triggers

Just "pulled the trigger" on purchasing a SD-E for my extra Seekins lower.. that after being very happy with the Super 3 gun trigger on the new AR I got in last week.. Looking forward to feeling the difference. These vids have been a great help..
