I have my rings all the way back on my base and I still can't get my scope back far enough for propper eye relief. Would it be ok to put both rings infront of the turrets to get it back far enough?

EGW makes an extended base, for just that issue.

Get an extended base.
I'm betting he has either the 4X or the 3-18x, they are perfect for an AR because they have short eye relief (the eye piece on mine is about even with the charging handle, and with an A2 stock it is perfect) but I'd have a hard time using one on a bolt gun.

I don't know that this would work on your particular set up, but have you thought about using an extended 1 piece mount, say ADM or Larue, but mounting it backwards on the rail so it extends towards, rather than away from you ?

I'm not sure the front and rear mount holes are the same, also some rifles are a bit weird and the back will be a bit lower than the front (if you look around some people will post up about how their mount is a POS but in reality their rifle's receiver is a little out of spec).
I would just get the EGW mount. EGW stuff isn't bad and the mount is made to do what he wants it to do.

No Jaym, you are not the only one with this problem, I recently ordered an IOR but went with 6-24x50sfp specifically because your same problem kept showing up time and time again as I researched the 3-18x42. Thats why I asked which model. Also as mentioned above by BCP some of the users remedied the problem with a rearward extended base. Seemed like a hassle so I went with a different model.

Call Cameron at Murphy Precision. He'll make you whatever base you need in whatever cant you want. Their bases are very well made and Cameron is really helpful.

No! Your scope tube would be unsupported on the ocular end. Get the extended base.

No such thing as an "extended base" that will allow you to move the scope back towards your eye. The last slot is all you have to work with, unless you find some bastardized extended ring set.
Think about it: the rear portion of the standard base ends at the rear of the receiver bridge, any longer and you couldn't raise your bolt...
Problem with many IOR scopes is they have very limited tube area to fasten rings, the turret housing is very long, and the magnification ring and ocular lens combine so that they extend 4" or so back from the rear-most ring location.
Extended base lets you position the ocular lens forward, but if you need to move it back, like further behind the bolt shroud, then you probably need a different scope.

not only did a previous poster tell him that very thing existed, HE PROVIDED A LINK to the very product that describes an extension TO THE REAR.
You are out of luck if you have a Savage, but they do in fact make them for remington.

You are WRONG. EGW makes an extended base that goes further back for a Remington 700. I have owned one for my IOR an it solved the eye relief issue and the bolt still opens and closes fine. There are several post on this.
