Think about it: the rear portion of the standard base ends at the rear of the receiver bridge, any longer and you couldn't raise your bolt...
Problem with many IOR scopes is they have very limited tube area to fasten rings, the turret housing is very long, and the magnification ring and ocular lens combine so that they extend 4" or so back from the rear-most ring location.
Extended base lets you position the ocular lens forward, but if you need to move it back, like further behind the bolt shroud, then you probably need a different scope. </div></div>

not only did a previous poster tell him that very thing existed, HE PROVIDED A LINK to the very product that describes an extension TO THE REAR.
You are out of luck if you have a Savage, but they do in fact make them for remington.
