Help on Powder & Primers Questions

Hi all,I am new to reloading and have a seperate post on equipment recommendations,this is a question on making the reloads.my rifle shoots Hornady 147 ELD 6.5 Creedmoor ammo very well.does this mean I should find the powder & primers Hornady uses and duplicate it?I read on another post its
41.0g of H4350 & CCI 250 large magnum primers
First question is the above correct for their 147 ELD 6.5 Creedmoor ammo?
Second,do you stay with these or do you “tweak”powder amounts or try different primers
Third,I heard great things about 140 & 144 Berger ammo but tried both and my gun did not like it,groups went from sub 1/2” to 1”.does this mean I give up on trying to reload Berger bullets or can I change things and retry?

So you need to do a full proper load work up. No one is going to be able to give you a load w/ a specific charge weight and have it work optimally in your rifle. At least the odds of that happening are infinitesimal.

the two primary approaches are OCW (optimal charge weight) and a ladder (or saterlee) test. There sre pros and cons to each. Some do both, others do just one and some have a method that’s different then those two but works for them.

I’d research the above two methods to make sense of what each seeks to accomplish and go from there.

Again - You will need to do a load work up
i Would suggest finding someone in your area, perhaps a buddy who reloads that can show you the ropes. That’s the best way to learn.

Your Hornady reloading book that you have. Page 317 for 6.5 creed. You can start from there. There’s all the info there you need to start reloading. Just remember that the load high lighted in red for each powder is max load. For that specific rifle they tested on. You still have to do your part of checking for pressure signs as you go up the latter. I also recommend a chrono. But most importantl, like I responded in your other thread, start looking for powders, primers, bullets and case. These are very hard to get right now. Probably worst then off the shelves ammo. Really, you don’t wanna spend all your money on equipment and not have any components. The equipment will be useless..
