So I am new to the forum and pretty sure this has been covered a thousand times. But I am asking for opinions on two different scopes please. I am getting ready to do my first custom build and am trying to choose the glass for it. I have only owned Leupold up until this point. I have several Mark 4's with the TMR reticle and really like them. But, I am actually looking at a Nightforce for this build. My problem, and the need for your opinions, is that I live in a very small town, and the local sporting goods dealer does not carry Nightforce, so I can't check them out without buying one.
So my question is this, for those of you that have owned both Leupold and Nightforce (regaurdless of power or FFP) which one do you prefer and why?
Any and all feed back is appreciated.

Re: Help on scope choice

Leupold MK4 = good, NXS = great, owned a couple examples of both.

The new MK6, MK8 might be equal with NF, never owned one so someone else will have to comment about them. They sure are pricey so I'd hope they are up there with NF.

Re: Help on scope choice

NF has almost GOT to be superior for a target/range rifle but it depends on how you're going to use your rifle. For hunting Night Force would be great but the weight!! They're not light. Much rather have a lighter weight Leup.

I'm assuming your build will be for range work based on your prior scopes and NF is going to be killer. Awesome scopes, customer service, etc..

Re: Help on scope choice

Yes, the scope is for the range only. I will not be taking this rifle hunting. the more I look at it I think the choice is starting to become very clear. I just wished I could look at one before buying it and nobody in this dinky little town stocks them. Oh well, guess I will have to go Denver soon.

Re: Help on scope choice

I was going to get a Nightforce BR scope but settled on a Sigtron Slll 8-32x56 instead because it was so much less and the glass is about the same. Glad I did. Very nice scope for the money. I'm sure the Nightforce is more rugged, but I don't plan on hitting stuff with it.
