Suppressors Help please! Cant get the slide off my Sig 226!

I have had a Lasermax installed on my Sig 226 which has worked great. This is the setup where the stock guide rod is replaced by the Lasermax guide rod and spring and the laser is activated by the new take down lever which has an internal button.

Something had gone wrong with the take down lever and i had sent it back to Lasermax to get fixed and i put the gun back together with the Lasermax rod, spring and i slid it on the frame but with NO take down lever. Now that the take down lever is back from Lasermax, i cant take the slide off the frame anymore. I should have never installed the slide back on the frame without the take down lever, but at this time i need to know how i can get it off. It almost feels like that the guide rod has slipped off its notch on the barrel and preventing the slide from coming off. Also when i rack the slide back and lock it, it does not lock back when i hit the slide release, it slowly closes and gets hung up half way. All inputs appreciated. Here is a pic:

Dam that can't be good, I have a sig p226 aswell and while i dont plan on getting the laser max installed im just curious as to how this was done and or fixed.. So tag and good luck

At one point or another all of the finesse methods will prove ineffective and you are going to have to get a rubber mallot and bash it off.

Do what you can to ensure things are straight between blows.

Be sure the frame is in a vise and to hold onto the slide when you hit it or it will launch when it breaks free.

I agree with the above. No laser light whiz-bang bull shit on carry guns..... on the flip side, you're the guy who keeps most gunsmiths in business so carry on!


Now, most likely your putting the slide back on wasn't a good idea but racking it like that then trying to release itwas a downright bonehead move. I'm going to say without looking at it that the head of the lasermax rod is jammed into the locking block and maybe under the barrel lug. Your best bet is going to be to take it to a smith and have them get it apart. I would suggest that you do it yourself but it would involve a vice and hammer and I'm guessing that would be a bad thing.

I would suggest something different. Buy ANOTHER P226, mount the fucked up one on a wall. And before you ever go to do something this dumb again, stop and look at this pistol, and think wether you should proced or not.
