Ok I have reloaded about 400 rounds and everything has worked great so far. I traded some bullets with a friend I had some 69 gr sierras that wouldn't work in my 1/12 700. He traded me for some mid south 55 gr varmint bullets hp and sp. They are really short tho they are all around .611 to .618. My lands start at 2.281 so I try to load bullets to 2.271 if I did that with these I would only have .170somthing in the brass. I have to have at least .224 I. The brass for pressure reasons right? It just kind of sucks to load these so short between 2.118 for the sp and 2.137 for the hp. Am I right here or can I lengthen them? Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
Dennis

Re: Help reloading 223

if I haven't been away from the bed to long for this one I will say yes you are right..170 is too short, that would just be at the top of the boat tail for that bullet or any bullet wit a boat tail.but you just might be able to take it down .030 to get enough in the case for a better fit in the neck.heck they might just shoot for ya.you do not have to put them in/close to the lands all the time.

just try them by running them in some more to see what happens.if not you wasted your time by tradeing for them.

Seat them and then go shoot them. Thats the only way to know for sure if it will work. If it is any consolation to you, I am jumping the 208 amax in .067" in my 308 and they shoot fine.
